The Kamuela Phil-harmonic Orchestra is moving forward on plans for an exciting new season, with concerts featuring the final three contestants in its search for a new artistic director.

Dr. Madeline Schatz-Harris, the orchestra’s founder, announced her departure for the mainland during the 2014-15 season.

After appraising more than 90 highly qualified applicants from around the world, the orchestra board has selected three finalists:

Dr. Brian Dollinger of Morton, Ill., Dr. David MacKenzie of New Bedford, Conn., and maestro Harvey Felder of Tacoma, Wash.

Each of the conductors will lead the orchestra in a regular season concert.

Dollinger will conduct works by Beethoven, Bizet and Tchaikovsky on Oct. 25 at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows.

On Jan. 17 at Kahilu Theater, MacKenzie will lead the group in pieces by Beethoven, Dvorak and Rimsky-Korsakov.

Performances by the winners of the orchestra’s annual concerto competition will be on the program March 20 at Kahilu Theater. Along with the concertos, Felder will conduct music by Liszt and Hanson.
